Rain Worshipers

Tonight was ridiculous. I drove from Port Isabel out to Laguna Atascosa, up highway 106, cut across to Los Fresnos, hopped over to Brownsville, and jumped on 511 till I found myself on Highway 4 and heading toward Boca Chica. Why, might you ask all this driving when gas prices are at an all-time-high? I was following the frogs!
Seriously, I drove all that way just to find a few frogs and toads out singing in the rain. It was actually rather strange to be honest with you, there were many of puddles along the way but few frogs to fill them. It wasn't until I got down to the border patrol check point, on the way to Boca Chica, that I found my froggies. I even did a u-turn to run by and give the border patrol officers a heads up as to why they might see me down the road with lights and flashes firing off while knee deep in muck.
I was surprised I didn't find any Couch's Spadefoots around, I generally find a lot of them in that exact spot. Tonight we had Gulf Coast Toads, a Leopard frog or two, a few Spotted Chorus Frogs, and my favorite, Mexican Tree Frogs! I heard at least 10 individual frogs and spotted 4 of them. So without further delay, here are a few shots I took:
